2. About the Opportunity:

The Staff Data Scientist, Safety Insights is responsible for leading measurement strategies and analytics to enhance user safety across the platform. This role collaborates closely with product, engineering, and machine learning teams to define safety metrics, evaluate interventions, and prioritize initiatives with high impact. The position directly influences strategic decisions to safeguard the user experience and supports the organization’s objective to maintain a safe environment at scale.

3. Responsibilities:

• Lead development of metrics, frameworks, and dashboards to quantify and monitor user safety.

• Use scientific methods to inform Safety product strategy and assess impacts of initiatives.

• Design and conduct experiments and causal analyses to estimate safety intervention ROI.

• Develop and maintain scalable models using statistical, machine learning, or GenAI techniques.

• Support product development from problem framing through launch and post-launch evaluation.

• Stay informed of advances in ML and related methods to improve abuse detection and enforcement.

• Communicate complex analyses clearly to influence decisions across the Safety and Moderation teams.

• Mentor junior data scientists and analysts to foster technical rigor and curiosity.

4. Requirements:

• Experience in Data Science, Applied Science, or related roles, preferably in safety, enforcement, or fraud.
