The Staff AI Engineer is the first hire on the central AI Transformation team and the builder behind Tango's AI Lab. Reporting to the Head of AI Transformation, this role focuses on landing AI in real workflows across all internal functions (Go-To-Market, Tech, Finance, HR/Legal, and Services) rather than just conducting demos. The role involves establishing an AI-native operating model and building internal AI tools that drive function KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Ship High-Impact AI Tools: Build and ship internal AI tools and automations, prioritizing Finance/RevOps and Go-To-Market functions. Define named owners, measured baselines, and annualized value targets for each tool.
• Build vs. Buy Strategy: Challenge the necessity of building; provide clear build-versus-buy recommendations and only proceed with development when the business case is superior.
• Evaluation & Governance: Establish eval harnesses, monitoring, and guardrails for accuracy, safety, cost, and latency. Partner with Security, Legal, and Compliance on AI governance patterns (data handling, prompt-injection defense, PII safety).
