Staff Software Engineer / Architect - AI, CoCounsel FDE

About this role

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer / Architect - AI Cocounsel FDE to join the team of a leader in the Media space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Media environment.


Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available


Compensation: $137,100 – $254,700 annually


Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and delivery of AI solutions for legal professionals
• Review and guide system design and code for quality and scalability
• Build legal AI solutions including RAG pipelines and enterprise integrations
• Drive AI-native engineering practices within the team
• Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks for production AI systems
• Translate client legal workflows into scalable technical architectures
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with cross-functional partners

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with system design and technical leadership
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML or LLM-powered applications in production
• Expert proficiency in Python and modern backend engineering
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Strong understanding of AI interoperability and agentic systems
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog or Grafana
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders
