Staff Accountant

About this role

FundLoans Capital is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring timely and accurate accounting processes.

The ideal candidate will have accounting experience in a mortgage lending, mortgage banking, or financial services environment. Candidates with strong accounting experience and the ability to quickly learn the mortgage industry will also be considered.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for supporting a variety of accounting functions, including:

• Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, including cash, loan-related accounts, accruals, and prepaid expenses
• Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account flux analysis
• Managing accounts payable activities, including invoice intake and processing, check preparation, ACH and wire creation, vendor follow-up, and ensuring timely and accurate payment of company obligations
• Assisting with accounts receivable and credit card expense reporting, including identifying and communicating cash liquidity needs that may require moving funds
• Partnering with Operations and Secondary Marketing teams to ensure accurate financial treatment of loan transactions, including researching borrower payments and resolving related discrepancies
• Reconciling warehouse lines of credit and assisting with investor reporting support
• Tracking and reconciling loan-level accounting activity, including fees, premiums, discounts, and servicing-related entries
• Preparing financial reporting packages for management and the Controller
• Supporting audits by preparing schedules and documentation
• Ensuring compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and lending-specific accounting standards
