About this role

We’re an award-winning consultancy known for delivering exceptional products and services through technology. We work closely with organisations to help them accelerate value delivery and create outstanding customer experiences. Our purpose is simple: to empower organisations to make a real difference for people, society, and the planet through technology that’s efficient, user-friendly, and solves problems fast.
At Burendo, we believe that together, we can achieve incredible things.
What sets us apart is how we work. We pride ourselves on a pragmatic attitude to delivery: we think big, plan practically, adapt quickly, and always focus on results. We embrace innovation, challenge the status quo, and foster collaboration at every step. Caring for people is at the heart of what we do, and we love to share what we learn.
We’re looking for a Senior UX Designer to champion users on client projects, shaping products that work for people and for the business. You’ll lead and support other designers, and take on ambiguous problems where the answer isn’t obvious yet.
These are the things we value most at Burendo. We can teach skills, but our behaviours forge the culture we strive for.
Genuine curiosity and a desire to keep learning
Empathy and respect for colleagues and clients
A pragmatic eye for “good enough”, avoiding unnecessary “gold-plating”
Comfortable co-designing with others
Clear, open communication
A desire to see others succeed, rather than wanting to be the Hero
Confidence to influence decisions across teams and stakeholders
Care for the people and pressures involved in client projects
Burendo is invested in the growth of our consultants and provides a healthy self-development budget you can use to grow in the areas below, or any other of your choosing!
The must haves:
A portfolio of polished, interactive client work
Strong grasp of interaction patterns, and when to bend them
Experience of user research: workshops, interviews and observation
Experience turning insight into several distinct design options
Experience shaping visual identity, content structure and microcopy
Experience mentoring designers and leading a small team
Confidence presenting and advising clients, whether written, visual or in person
Experience mentoring designers and leading a small team
Ability to link business goals to user needs with senior stakeholders
And it would be great if you have any of these:
Experience in the public sector and healthcare industry
Experience working in a technology or consulting company
Involvement in community building via blogs, talks, meetups, or other means
Experience building design systems and documenting designs at the right level of detail
25 days Annual Leave (plus bank holidays)
An additional day of paid leave for celebrations
1 additional day of holiday after 2 years' service (26 days total) and another 2 days after 5 years (28 days total)
Monthly Wellness Allowance
Annual Learning and Development Allowance
Paid time off for Life Events
Matched Employer Contributed Pension (5%)
Life assurance based on 4 x your salary
Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
Enhanced Family Leave
Eligibility for a 6-month sabbatical after 3 years’ service
Enhanced company sick pay
A range of optional Salary Sacrifice benefits (inc EV Scheme, Home and Tech, Cycle to Work and Pension)
Exciting calendar of Burendo social events and activities
We are committed to promoting equal opportunities in employment. You and any job applicants will receive equal treatment regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, race, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation
As a proud supporter of the Armed Forces Covenant, we welcome all applications from members of the Armed Forces Community.
