Job Brief

We are seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable backend services supporting workplace technology, digital access systems, and commercial property solutions. This role will focus on building high-performance REST APIs, developing secure integrations, and maintaining reliable backend infrastructure that powers mission-critical applications.

Working closely with frontend developers, mobile engineers, and product teams, the successful candidate will contribute to the design and delivery of resilient backend systems that prioritise security, scalability, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot.

• Containerisation & Deployment: Develop, deploy, and manage containerised services using Docker.

• Database Development: Design, maintain, and optimise PostgreSQL databases and relational data models.

• Systems Integration: Build and maintain integrations with third-party REST APIs and external hardware platforms.

• Application Security: Apply secure software development practices to protect backend services and data.

• Code Quality: Produce clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while participating in peer reviews.

• Project Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to support solution architecture, development, testing, and deployment.

Requirements

• Proven commercial experience developing backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.

• Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs.

• Experience deploying containerised applications using Docker.

• Strong PostgreSQL database design and optimisation skills.

• Experience integrating third-party APIs and external systems.
