Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate governed, production-grade AI capabilities across a multi-cloud environment (AWS Bedrock, Google Gemini for Government, Microsoft Copilot).
• Own data pipelines and AI control plane.
• Implement governed AI/RAG solutions on multiple cloud platforms.
• Operate the AI control plane (LightLLM) for model access, monitoring, cost allocation, and governance.
• Architect scalable data pipelines for RAG and AI systems.
• Advance AI work-planning and control systems for the lab.
• Enforce data governance and security protocols.
• Own CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
• Mentor a junior engineer.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of software/AI engineering experience.
• Strong Python foundation.
• Hands-on experience with LLM/RAG applications.
• Working knowledge of AWS Bedrock and/or Google Vertex AI/Gemini.
• Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD (GitHub Actions).
• Practical understanding of security and data governance.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
• Ability to support Pacific Time core business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in DOE, national labs, FedRAMP, or similar regulated environments.
• Familiarity with AI gateways/control planes (e.g., LightLLM).
• Experience with Microsoft Copilot for enterprise RAG.
• SIEM integration experience.
• Ability to transform unstructured documentation into structured knowledge.

Eligibility & Work Conditions

• Full-time, salaried employee on long-term client assignment.
• Remote within U.S.; occasional onsite in SF Bay Area helpful.
• Must support Pacific Time core hours.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required due to CUI/SPI data handling.
• Government-furnished equipment provided.
