Software Engineer (Vice President)

About this role

• ICapital is seeking a Backend Software Engineer at Vice President level. You will design, build, and operate services that power the iCapital platform
• You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and technical partners throughout the development lifecycle. Our service-oriented platform primarily uses Scala, Ruby, and Python, but prior experience with these languages is not required. We value strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn new technologies
• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services and APIs
• Translate product and business needs into practical technical solutions
• Own projects from design through production rollout and ongoing support
• Write maintainable code and contribute to technical design decisions
• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards
• Build testing, observability, security, and operational readiness into services
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery, investigation, and learning- Understanding of cloud application development and distributed systems
• 5+ years experience building or integrating with APIs and backend services
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to plan work, refine specifications, delegate tasks, and validate implementation quality
• Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling
• 8+ years experience with a modern programming language such as Ruby, Scala, Python, Java, or TypeScript
• Familiarity with automated testing, version control, and modern software delivery practices
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
