Software Automation Engineer

About this role

An established commercial real estate business is looking for a technical specialist to join the team. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and optimization of building control solutions to enhance energy efficiency and asset performance. The successful candidate will work closely with facility managers and vendors to standardize architectures and integrate modern sensor technologies.

What you'll be doing

• Design and configure building control systems across a diverse property portfolio

• Integrate PLC and sensor platforms to enhance overall building performance

• Analyze energy data to identify optimization opportunities and implement control strategies

• Troubleshoot system issues and perform root-cause analysis for corrective actions

• Develop standard control architectures and sequences of operations documentation

What we're looking for

• Proficiency in Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)

• Experience with HVAC controls, energy management, and optimization strategies

• Technical knowledge of network protocols including BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks

• Familiarity with SCADA or BMS platforms such as Niagara or Tridium

• Ability to use scripting languages and data analytics tools for performance reporting
