About the Role

Freight operations are high-volume, high-variance, and deeply operational. Data is inconsistent. Systems are legacy. Workflows live in inboxes and phone calls.

We're building the core systems that turn that chaos into reliable, AI-powered automation. As a Founding Engineer at Miles, you'll design and ship backend services, integrations, and AI-driven workflows that power real logistics operations — integrating with brittle TMS APIs, designing orchestration logic that coordinates AI agents with deterministic systems, and improving evaluation and reliability loops for production AI workflows.

This role spans backend systems, AI orchestration, infrastructure, and product logic. We move quickly, ship frequently, and operate directly in production. You'll take ambiguous operational problems and turn them into clean abstractions and working software — no waiting for perfect specs.
