You will design and build security features that protect users, content, and infrastructure against evolving threats, including abuse, bots, and sophisticated attacks. Working within a highly collaborative and transparent engineering environment, you will contribute directly to the evolution of a large-scale web platform powered by MediaWiki. The position combines hands-on development with architectural thinking, requiring you to balance performance, usability, and security. You will partner closely with engineers, product managers, and community contributors to ensure safe and compliant system design. Beyond coding, you will help shape engineering standards, influence security culture, and support incident response efforts. Accountabilities

• Design, develop, and deliver security and privacy-focused features across a large-scale web platform, ensuring systems remain resilient against abuse and attacks.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to guide secure architectural and implementation decisions across multiple systems.
• Conduct code reviews, contribute to engineering standards, and promote best practices in testing, observability, and system reliability.
• Develop, maintain, and deploy security features, including contributions from both internal teams and open-source collaborators.
• Perform security and privacy reviews, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending improvements to system design and implementation.
