Pie's mission is to empower small businesses to thrive by making commercial insurance affordable and as easy as pie. We leverage technology to transform how small businesses buy and experience commercial insurance.
Like our small business customers, we are a diverse team of builders, dreamers, and entrepreneurs who are driven by core values and operating principles that guide every decision we make.
As a Senior Contract Recruiter, you’ll identify top talent in the market, attract applicants by communicating our value proposition and embodying our talent brand, and manage the candidate experience throughout Pie’s recruiting process. You’ll play an essential role in onboarding the talent that supports our scaling business initiatives, working across Pie’s corporate and business groups to fill manager- to director-level requisitions, along with high-volume and specialized insurance roles such as Claims.
How You’ll Do It
Manage the full-cycle recruiting process
Develop strategies to identify, attract, and engage the best talent, with a focus on passive candidate outreach and innovative sourcing.
Manage candidate flow through our ATS, Greenhouse.
Give every Pie prospect and candidate a world-class experience.
Learn what each candidate is looking for, then partner with the People Partner to shape a market-competitive offer, and probe, negotiate, and close candidates with minimal guidance.
Client management
Partner with hiring teams to understand their organizational objectives and build hiring plans to achieve them.
Work with executives, leaders, and the Director of Talent to create and distribute content across our job posting platforms and social media.
Coach hiring leaders through the recruiting process, push back constructively on requirements, and act as their subject matter expert and market advisor.
Build strong relationships with client groups.
Lead the kickoff, interview panel, and debrief for each search, driving alignment on what great looks like.
Team contributions and collaboration
Identify gaps and build or improve recruiting processes, trackers, and workflows, and share what works with the Talent team.
Manage a high-volume, high-complexity requisition load while holding a high bar for quality and talent density.
Support talent brand, external events, and project work that strengthens Pie’s recruitment and brand.
What Success Looks Like
Productive within your first two weeks, with minimal onboarding.
Comfortable in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and evolving processes.
A trusted partner to hiring leaders, with a track record of balancing speed, quality, and candidate experience.
The Right Stuff
Required qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
8+ years of experience in sourcing or full-lifecycle recruiting across multiple departments, including corporate functions.
Experience with an applicant tracking system (ATS) and common sourcing tools, like LinkedIn Recruiter.
Advanced communication skills, with the ability to deliver complex information effectively. You can articulate the team member value proposition to candidates, write a compelling pitch email to prospective candidates, and deliver difficult or disappointing decisions clearly and professionally.
Strong business acumen, and the ability to use it to solve problems quickly and effectively.
Proven ability to manage high-volume, high-complexity searches and navigate ambiguity with stakeholders and candidates.
Understanding of how functional corporate and business teams operate together.
Proven ability to balance autonomy with collaboration. You work independently and own your tasks, deliverables, and timelines, and you know when to pull in hiring leaders and the Talent team.
Demonstrated ability to ramp quickly in new environments and build credibility with hiring leaders in specialized functions.
Systems and process savvy, with experience building or improving recruiting workflows, tracking, and reporting.
Track record of balancing quality and volume, using data (such as pass-through rates and time-to-fill) to manage your own pipeline.
Preferred qualifications
3+ years of experience recruiting in the insurance industry, ideally P&C, with Claims hiring experience or familiarity with claims adjudication profiles a plus.
2+ years of experience recruiting in a fast-paced startup or scaling business.
Hands-on proficiency with Greenhouse.
