Senior Accountant (CAS)

Councilor, BuchananMitchell, P.C. (CBM), an accounting and business advisory firm that serves clients throughout Washington, DC, Baltimore, and the Mid-Atlantic region, is currently seeking a dedicated client accounting and advisory services professional with at least two years of public accounting experience to help our clients in the non-profit and other industries.

Essential Functions

• Be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of monthly financial statements, including account analysis, financial reporting, and variance analysis
• Assist with client accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
• Maintain general accounting systems to provide records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions
• Research, analyze, and document general accounting matters
• Conduct general ledger operations, including processing, monitoring, and tracking general ledger transactions as well as preparing and posting journal entries
• Process payroll and related monthly, quarterly, and annual returns
• Prepare basic tax returns (including 990's)
• Perform other accounting and tax duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel
• Contribute to team effort to achieve optimal customer satisfaction
• Work with varying levels of personnel and management, both inside and outside the accounting team, to ensure appropriate analysis of issues and conclusion of accounting matters
• Support monitoring and validation efforts for internal controls and adherence to US GAAP
• Provide hands-on support for varying projects
