Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Accountant Payment Application Manager to join our team. This pivotal role combines construction accounting expertise with a focus on managing payment applications, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities

• Manage the preparation, review, and submission of payment applications for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual terms.
• Oversee accounts payable processes related to construction expenses, verifying invoices against project milestones and budgets.
• Reconcile project-related general ledger accounts, including progress billings, retainage, and retainage receivables.
• Coordinate with project managers and contractors to resolve payment discrepancies and facilitate smooth cash flow management.
• Prepare detailed financial reports and analysis related to project payments, progress billing status, and cash flow forecasts.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction accounting or project-based financial management, with strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Familiarity with technical accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including SOX compliance, governmental accounting standards, securities law, and non-profit accounting practices is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports and perform cash flow analysis effectively.
