The Opportunity

Advent is staffing for an anticipated award supporting a large federal agency's Enterprise Data Platform (EDP): a FedRAMP High, AWS- and Databricks-based environment that serves as the authoritative enterprise platform for trusted, secure, and timely data access. The environment includes approximately 50 active tenants, 30 Databricks workspaces, 161 catalogs, and 132 active data pipelines, with roughly 40 deployments per month. This is a hands-on operational and engineering role working directly alongside federal technical leads.

Role Summary

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will serve as a Databricks subject matter expert guiding workspace architecture, governance, performance optimization, and secure integration with AWS services. You will design and operate medallion data pipelines, administer Unity Catalog governance, enable self-service analytics, and perform specialized data operations on a FedRAMP High enterprise data platform.

Key Responsibilities

•      Guide Databricks workspace architecture, governance, and performance optimization across the enterprise platform.

•      Design and maintain medallion-architecture pipelines using Delta Live Tables, Auto Loader, and structured streaming.

•      Administer Unity Catalog, including RBAC/ABAC policies, row-level security, column masking, and PII tagging.

•      Enable self-service analytics through SQL Warehouses, semantic layers, Databricks Genie, and BI tool integration (Power BI/Tableau).

•      Securely integrate Databricks with AWS services and support tenant onboarding and data sharing.

•      Collaborate directly with federal technical leads and business stewards to implement approved data definitions and classifications.

Required Qualifications

•      Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud technologies.
