Python/Django Senior Full Stack Engineer for AI-native B2B Tax Software (Remote)

About the role

You'll join as a senior engineer expected to deliver, lead by example, and raise the bar across the team. Your first major piece of work will be the E2E test automation; once that's established you'll move into full feature delivery alongside the rest of the team. You'll ship production code across the full stack — Next.js / React on the frontend, Django / Python on the backend, PostgreSQL, AWS hosted. You'll work directly with founders to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Ship production code across the full stack — Next.js / React on the frontend, Django / Python on the backend, PostgreSQL, AWS hosted
• Own Playwright E2E automation — design the suite architecture, automate regression coverage across the application, and wire it into CI so it runs fast and stays stable with minimal ongoing maintenance
• Own features end-to-end: solutioning, implementation, Playwright E2E coverage, code review, deployment, post-release support
• Set the standard for AI-native engineering — bring your tooling, your workflows, and your opinions on how we use AI better
• Identify and fix inefficiencies in our processes
• Review others' work constructively and level up the rest of the team
• Work directly with founders to translate business needs into technical solutions

About you

• 6+ years building and shipping production web applications
• Playwright E2E testing — demonstrable experience designing and owning a suite, not just adding tests to an existing one (comparable frameworks considered with equivalent evidence)
• Senior-level Next.js and React on real production systems
• Strong Python and Django
• PostgreSQL — schema design, query optimisation, migrations
• AWS — ECS Fargate, RDS, S3 at a minimum, comfortable working in a Terraform-managed environment
• CI/CD pipeline fluency — GitLab, GitHub Actions, or similar
• Demonstrable AI-native workflow
• Comfortable working with an Australian-timezone team
