What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)

• Immerse yourself in client workflows to understand how public health staff perform their duties, particularly in environmental health programs
• Identify pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities that clients may not have articulated
• Synthesize input from multiple stakeholders into coherent solution recommendations
• Translate complex public health processes into clear user stories and acceptance criteria
• Lead discovery sessions and workshops with health department staff

What Is Required (Qualifications)

• Minimum of 2 years working in governmental public health (local, state, federal, or tribal)
• Demonstrated ability to understand complex systems and workflows
• Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience translating between technical and non-technical audiences
• Self-motivated with strong initiative

How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Direct experience in environmental health programs at a local health department (e.g., inspections, permitting, compliance, complaint response)
• Experience with agile methodologies
• Familiarity with user story development and acceptance criteria writing
