About this role
Summary
We are seeking a Microsoft Purview Engineer to lead the data governance workstream on a strategic Microsoft Fabric transformation for a healthcare and pharmaceutical supply chain client. This engagement establishes a fully governed data estate from day one: every domain migration automatically registers assets in Purview, applies the right sensitivity labels (PII, PHI, FOUO, Public), captures end-to-end lineage from source through Bronze, Silver, Gold, and onto Power BI semantic models, and enforces role-based access policies across 56 daily active users. You will own the Purview workstream end-to-end, from initial account configuration and Fabric integration through classification taxonomy design, automated lineage validation, RBAC policy implementation, and a final governance audit aligned with VA and DOD compliance requirements. This is a hands-on senior governance role with significant autonomy and direct stakeholder visibility: you will partner with the data engineering team to ensure every Fabric notebook and pipeline emits clean lineage, with the BI team to confirm sensitivity label inheritance into reports, and with the client's compliance officer to produce audit-ready evidence at go-live.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of data governance, information protection, or compliance engineering experience
- 2+ years hands-on with Microsoft Purview, including data source registration, scan configuration, sensitivity labels, classification rules, and the data catalog
- Production experience configuring Purview against Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, or equivalent modern lakehouse environments
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), sensitivity label taxonomies, and label inheritance behavior across Microsoft 365 and Azure
- Experience designing and implementing classification taxonomies for regulated data (PII, PHI, FOUO, or equivalent)
- RBAC and least-privilege access design, including role map...
