About this role
Data Infrastructure Engineer (Rust) — High Performance Computing
About The Role
What if your mastery of Rust could directly shape the infrastructure powering the next generation of AI? We're looking for a Senior Rust Engineer to build the high-performance data pipelines, annotation tooling, and evaluation systems that leading AI labs depend on to train and improve their most advanced models.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role for an elite systems engineer who knows Rust at a deep level — memory layout, SIMD, concurrency, and all. You'll work on real production systems at the frontier of AI development, collaborating with research and engineering teams doing genuinely important work.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 20–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and optimize high-performance Rust systems supporting large-scale AI data pipelines and evaluation workflows
- Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for data annotation, validation, and quality control
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks through deep profiling, SIMD optimizations, and careful memory management
- Improve reliability, performance, and safety across existing Rust codebases
- Collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams to support model training and evaluation workflows
- Participate in synchronous design reviews and iterate quickly on system architecture decisions
Who You Are
- 5+ years of professional experience writing production-grade Rust
- Deep expertise in data parallelism and concurrency patterns — you know how to maximize CPU saturation
- Strong command of memory layout, SIMD optimizations, and heap allocation strategies to hunt down and fix performance bottlenecks
- Native or fluent English speaker with clear written and verbal communication skills
- Able to commit 20–40 hours per week consistently
- Self-directed and comfortable working asynchronously in a remote enginee...
