AI Engineer

About this role

We're a fast-growing optical retail and e-commerce group (EZContacts.com, Envision Optical stores) looking for a hands-on AI engineer in New York to build AI across the whole business: customer service automation (calls, email, chat), our call center, e-commerce, internal operations, marketing, data dashboards, inventory and new projects as they come.

You'll:

Build and ship LLM-powered tools and agents end to end

Integrate with our systems (Five9, Shopify, Gorgias, Google Workspace, APIs)

Turn messy processes into automations and dashboards

Work directly with the owner and move fast across many projects

You have (real, hands-on experience only):

2+ years building AI/LLM products that shipped to production: agents, RAG, voice/chat bots, integrations with call-center or e-commerce systems

Real projects running in production that you can show us; a GitHub or portfolio is required

Strong Python or TypeScript, APIs, automation

No bootcamp-only or junior profiles

Nice to have:

Experience building persistent, long-running AI agents/processes: always-on agents with memory and state that run tasks in the background over hours or days, with job queues, retries and monitoring

Full-time, remote from New York, NY. $110,000-$140,000 per year depending on experience.
