Mind Computing is seeking a fulltime, 100% remote UI/UX Designer to support a project with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The ideal candidate will apply Human Centered Design (HCD) principles to develop and enhance user-centric applications with a strong focus on usability, accessibility, and user experience. The designer should have strong experience in user research, wireframing, prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration, along with a demonstrated ability to design accessible digital experiences and support Section 508 compliance.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, developers, testers, and stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into effective UI/UX solutions.
- Develop research-oriented questions and use indirect user insights to inform design decisions when direct access to users is limited.
- Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using Figma to communicate design concepts and support development.
- Serve as a UI/UX accessibility subject-matter resource, providing guidance to cross-functional teams on accessible design practices and Section 508 compliance.
- Incorporate accessibility and compliance considerations throughout the design process and prior to production release.
- Review accessibility findings and provide clear, actionable guidance for identifying and remediating Section 508 issues.
- Support accessibility testing, audits, and remediation efforts by reviewing findings, recommending design solutions, and validating corrected implementations.
- Incorporate feedback from developers, testers, stakeholders, and users into iterative design improvements within an Agile delivery environment.
