About UpScrolled
UpScrolled is an independent social media platform built on a simple idea: people should control what they see, say, and share online.
We exist because we were tired of social media that treats people like products. So we’re building the alternative: a platform where your data stays yours, your voice actually reaches your followers, and your feed belongs to you, not an algorithm.
We’re a small, fast-moving team with a big mission and a community of millions of UpScrollers who joined because they were done waiting for someone else to fix social media. We need people who care about that as much as we do. Come scroll differently with us.
About the Role
We’re hiring a Technical Product Manager to join a small team where product ownership goes beyond roadmap and specs. You’ll shape how people experience content, community, and connection on a platform built to do social media differently - and you’ll work close enough to engineering to make those decisions technically sound and shippable.
You’ve shipped product in a fast-moving environment and know how to balance user needs, business priorities, and engineering constraints without losing momentum. You don’t need a large team or a fully defined process to be effective. You create clarity where there isn’t any, stay dynamic when priorities shift, and roll up your sleeves on the operational work that keeps a small team shipping - including translating the roadmap into prioritized tickets and keeping delivery organized.
Location
UpScrolled maintains an office in Amsterdam, but this role can be fully remote. We prefer candidates who can work overlapping Central European time (CET/CEST), since that’s when most of the team collaborates.
What You’ll Do
Own the product roadmap and prioritize ruthlessly against business and user needs
Work closely with engineering and design to define, scope, and ship features
Translate product goals into clear requirements and prioritized, actionable tickets
Partner with engineering on feasibility, technical tradeoffs, and when to invest in tech debt vs new capability
Turn user feedback and data into product decisions that account for system constraints
Define and track the metrics that tell you whether what you shipped actually worked
Represent the user in every product decision without losing sight of the business
Help manage engineering work: ticket quality, task organization, and a backlog the team can execute from
Run sprint ceremonies and keep the team aligned on what’s in flight, blocked, and next
Use our analytics platform daily to uncover insights, monitor product health, and drive the metrics that matter
Partner with the CEO and Head of Engineering on priorities, follow-ups, and other work that keeps the product and team moving
What Success Looks Like
A clear roadmap is in place and features ship on time with measurable impact
Engineering and design have the clarity they need to move fast without rework
The roadmap is translated into prioritized, actionable tickets so the team always knows what to build next and why
Technical tradeoffs are made deliberately - scope is realistic, and surprises from unclear requirements are rare
The product is getting better in ways users notice and the data confirms
What You Are
An experienced PM with a track record of shipping in a startup or consumer product environment, ideally with a technical background (engineering, CS, data, or equivalent hands-on product/tech experience)
Technically fluent enough to discuss APIs, architecture, performance, and constraints with engineers - you don’t need to write production code, but you need to understand what you’re asking for
Dynamic and adaptable - comfortable switching between strategy, execution, and team coordination in the same week
Data-informed but decisive - you can make a call when the data is incomplete
A clear communicator who can align stakeholders without slowing things down
Someone who understands social media or consumer platforms from the user’s perspective - not just from the product spec
Comfortable owning delivery hygiene: tickets, organization, and sprint rhythm, not just product vision
Product design experience, or comfort working in tools like Figma, is a plus - especially when partnering with design on scope and flows
Comfortable living in analytics tools - you check the numbers daily and use them to spot problems and opportunities before anyone asks
What You Are Not
Someone who needs an established process or large team to operate effectively
Someone who struggles to make hard prioritization calls under pressure
Someone who writes excellent PRDs but struggles to drive them to shipped product
Someone who stays out of technical detail and expects engineering to “figure out the how” alone
Someone who sees ticket management, sprint ceremonies, or supporting leadership as “below” the PM role - on a small team, that work is part of the job
Someone looking to be an individual contributor - this is a product role with deep technical partnership
