About the Role

Aquila Technology is seeking a
Senior AI/ML Software Engineer
to support one of the nation’s premier defense research organizations. This position combines advanced software development with the research and development of novel AI/ML algorithms.

The engineer will develop new techniques for discriminative and generative AI applications rather than simply applying existing open-source models. The work supports cybersecurity and cyber-physical research for the Department of Defense, intelligence community, and federal agencies.

Research areas include:

• Cyber-physical sensing and effects
• AI/ML and edge processing
• Advanced sensors and digital signal processing
• Side-channel analysis
• Reverse engineering and system exploitation
• Red-team research
• RF communications

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate AI/ML algorithms into prototype and integrated systems.
• Develop novel discriminative and generative AI techniques.
• Build software for real-time and near-real-time processing environments.
• Optimize data-pipeline performance, processing speed, throughput, and latency.
• Manage overflow, underflow, and other real-time processing constraints.
• Use GPUs and heterogeneous hardware to accelerate computations.
• Develop edge AI solutions using model-distillation and optimization techniques.
