## Overview

DecisionPoint is seeking a UI/UX Designer to lead visual and interaction design for the Defense Casualty Information Processing System (DCIPS) Future program, a Department of Defense modernization effort supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP), Casualty and Mortuary Affairs (CMA) Directorate. This role establishes and owns the design system, from color palette and typography through component libraries and interaction patterns, and translates it into consistent, accessible, production-ready screens in Figma for delivery to development teams building on AWS GovCloud. The position works across three development teams (Casualty Management System, Survivor Portal, and Future Portal Integration) to ensure every screen a survivor, casualty assistance officer, or case manager encounters is clear, accessible, and appropriate to a mission with zero tolerance for error or delay.

## Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain the DCIPS Future design system in Figma: color palette, typography, spacing and grid standards, iconography, and a reusable component library, built from a blank slate with no existing brand assets.
  • Design global structural elements first (header, footer, navigation, layout grid) to give all three development teams a consistent foundation before feature-level screens begin.
  • Translate plain-language and PWS-derived UI/UX requirements into Figma prototypes and specifications the Government and engineering teams can review, approve, and build from.
  • Design screens that prioritize in-line viewing and editing of data over new views or context-switching, consistent with program UI/UX direction.
  • Design progress charting, contextual help, tooltips, and in-application guidance that update automatically as users move through multi-step casualty and survivor workflows.
