About this role
About the role
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to champion our platform engineering initiatives and own the foundation our engineering teams build on: the infrastructure, delivery pipelines, and observability tooling behind a streaming platform serving 60,000+ businesses and over 150 million monthly viewers. You're a software engineer first. You understand how applications are built, how services talk to each other, and how the different parts of a system depend on one another. You also care about how software gets built, shipped, and run, and you want to own it. You'll partner closely with every engineering team, and your impact will show up in how quickly and confidently they're able to ship. AI is central to how you'll work: you'll use it heavily to execute platform initiatives and move faster than a platform team twice the size.
This position will report to the VP, Engineering, and is on-site in Austin, TX! Availability to be in-office 4-5 days a week is required.
What you'll do
Use AI as a core part of how you plan, build, and ship.
Be motivated, naturally curious, and enjoy solving new problems alongside other engineers.
Build the tooling that makes AI effective for every other engineer.
Own our infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD: module design and standards, keeping declared state and reality converged, and a fast, reliable path from commit to production.
Define observability and resilience patterns across the org: every service measurable, debuggable, and alertable by default, safe deploy patterns, and incident response focused on root-cause fixes.
Lead upgrades of datastores, runtimes, frameworks, and SDKs ahead of end-of-life deadlines, including the application-code changes they require, and automate away recurring toil like dependency upgrades and environment provisioning.
Drive security remediation: triage cloud security findings, harden identity and network configuration, and close authentication gaps.
Champion simplification by decommissioning unused infrastructure, deleting dead code, and keeping our footprint (and cloud bill) no larger than it needs to be.
Work cross-functionally to prioritize infrastructure investments by impact.
Qualifications
Bias towards simplicity
Computer science degree or equivalent practical experience
4+ years of professional software engineering experience, building and shipping production services
Clear written and verbal communication
Strong fundamentals in how software works: APIs, service-to-service communication, authentication, data stores, caching, and system design
Some hands-on experience with infrastructure and delivery tooling: infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and cloud infrastructure
Security-minded by default: identity, network exposure, authentication boundaries, and vulnerability remediation
Heavy, effective daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar), including agentic workflows, skills, plugins, or MCP integrations
Nice to Haves:
Experience with Terraform (or similar): module design, state management, and catching drift
Experience building CI/CD across many services
Experience running containerized and serverless workloads on AWS (ECS, Lambda) in production
Experience leading a major upgrade (database, runtime, or framework) end to end
Experience building AI tooling other engineers use: skills, plugins, MCP servers, or agent workflows
Experience with streaming media, ad tech, or large device fleets
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive salary
Company Equity
Company 401(k) with employer matching
Competitive insurance plans
Flexible Time Off Policy
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship now or in the future.
