As a
Senior Software Engineer
within Optum Technology, you will drive the design, development, and modernization of scalable enterprise applications supporting high-throughput healthcare and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) transaction systems. Working within an Agile environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build cloud-native microservices, event-driven architectures, and secure RESTful APIs. In this role, you will leverage enterprise-approved AI platforms and modern development tools to boost engineering productivity, deliver high-quality solutions, and advance our cloud modernization roadmap.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable microservices, cloud-native applications, and event-driven architectures using Java, Spring Boot, Docker, and Kubernetes across the full software development lifecycle
• Implement secure RESTful APIs, relational database solutions, messaging systems (e.g., Kafka or JMS), and CI/CD pipelines following architectural standards, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and DevSecOps best practices
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on responsible use of AI
