Security Engineering is a dynamic department within our Infrastructure Security business group that defines, develops, and sells Akamai's Infrastructure Security products. Our team works with groups across Akamai as well as many external customers/partners. Our division consists of business development, engineering, product management and support personnel.

As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Owning underlying infrastructure and detection applications for Infrastructure Security, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency
• Creating new features, or enhancing existing functionalities, from design through testing and deployment
• Growing and maintaining our On-Prem Kubernetes platform to ensure fault tolerance, scalability, and efficient resource use
• Collaborating with Architecture, QA and Operational teams to create world class infrastructure security services

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 8+ years of experience and a degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Have experience with development using Java, Golang & a prior experience working with Kubernetes. Experience working with Python (good to have)
• Have extensive experience developing in a distributed, micro-services environment.
• Have experience with databases such as MySQL, Cassandra, MongoDB, or ClickHouse for managing and optimizing data storage/retrieval
• Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of security, networking principles, Layer 2-4 networking, load balancing, and DDoS mitigation solutions
