# Senior Automation Engineer (AWS) — Cloud Anesthesia Billing
## Location: Fully remote (US ONLY) Employment type: Full-time Compensation: $120,000+ salary, based on experience
About the role
We're a cloud-based anesthesia billing and revenue cycle management (RCM) practice built on AWS, and we're looking for a senior automation engineer to help us scale. You'll design, build, and maintain the automated workflows that move claims, charge data, and reconciliation processes through our systems reliably and securely — reducing manual touch points across billing operations while keeping us compliant with HIPAA and payer requirements.
This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role. You'll work closely with billing operations, data, and leadership to identify where manual work is slowing the practice down, then design cloud-native automation to fix it for good.
## What you'll do
- Design and build serverless automation pipelines (Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS/SNS) that handle claim submission, charge entry validation, remittance processing, and other RCM workflows end to end.
- Integrate with practice management, EHR, clearinghouse, and payer systems — including EDI 837/835 claim and remittance file exchange, claim scrubbing, and eligibility checks.
- Understand infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation) for the automation layer, and build/maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable, auditable deployments.
- Write and optimize Python for data transformation, validation, and orchestration tasks; work directly against PostgreSQL/RDS for data quality, reconciliation, and duplicate/error detection.
- Monitor and alert on pipeline health (CloudWatch, or equivalent), and build in retries, dead-letter handling, and audit logging so failures are caught before they become billing problems.
- Apply AWS security best practices for handling PHI — IAM least privilege, encryption at rest/in transit, VPC...
