Position Summary

Mandy's Spring Nursery and Canopy operate as one integrated horticultural business. Our production nursery in Granville grows and manages much of the plant material that supplies our destination garden center in Wilton, supports our landscape division, and serves customers at Mandy's Spring.

We are seeking an experienced Head Grower / Nursery Operations Manager to lead all aspects of nursery production and operations. This position is responsible for producing healthy, beautiful, retail-ready plants while overseeing inventory, nursery staff, irrigation systems, crop scheduling, and the daily operation of our growing facilities.

The ideal candidate combines strong horticultural knowledge with leadership ability and enjoys building efficient systems that produce exceptional plants.

Primary Responsibilities:

Plant Production

• Lead all daily nursery growing operations.
• Develop and execute crop schedules to meet seasonal production goals.
• Oversee watering, irrigation, fertility, and plant nutrition.
• Manage pruning, spacing, grooming, staking, and up-potting.
• Monitor greenhouse and hoop house growing conditions.
• Conduct regular crop inspections and adjust growing practices as needed.
• Ensure plants meet our standards for quality, health, and retail readiness.

Plant Health

• Implement and manage Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs.
• Monitor for insects, diseases, pathogens, and nutrient deficiencies.
• Recommend and apply appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain pesticide records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Stay current with new growing practices, plant varieties, and industry trends.

Nursery Operations

• Manage irrigation systems and troubleshoot basic irrigation and nursery equipment.
• Oversee receiving, staging, and movement of plant material.
