About this role
The Company
We’re Octopus Legacy: one of the fastest growing tech companies in the country, and part of the UK’s most exciting and best trusted group. We have a mission.
We’re on a path to scale, aiming to become a household name while transforming a long established industry and helping individuals and organisations prepare for and find support after death.
But we can’t do it alone. That’s why we’re building a team of self starters, problem solvers and people who bring energy to everything they do.
Ready to be part of something big?
The Role
We’re looking for a Charity Account Manager to join us on a 12 month maternity cover contract. You’ll look after a portfolio of UK charity partners who offer our free will and legacy services to their supporters, making sure every partner gets real value from working with us and that each partnership grows over time.
You’ll own your partners from onboarding through to renewal: building strong relationships with legacy and fundraising teams, helping them get the most out of our campaigns, and spotting opportunities to upgrade their package or introduce new products. You’ll be the person they trust, and the person who knows their numbers.
This is a fixed term role so we need someone who can hit the ground running, picking up an established portfolio, getting to know partners quickly and keeping renewals and campaigns on track from day one.
You’ll be responsible for:
Managing a portfolio of charity partners and driving successful renewals with low churn
Hitting and exceeding quarterly renewal and upsell targets
Growing contract value through package upgrades and multi-year agreements
Selling our wider product range, such as LPAs, urgent and complex wills etc
Driving partner activation and will volume across our Spring and Autumn campaigns
Using data to show each partner the ROI and impact of our service
If you love building relationships, enjoy consultative selling, and want to do work that genuinely helps charities and the people who support them, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio & Relationship Management
Take ownership of an established portfolio of charity partners, building trusted relationships with key contacts and decision makers
Run smooth onboarding and kick-off calls for new partners handed over from our New Business team
Hold regular review meetings with partners to track performance, share insight and plan ahead
Respond to partner enquiries within three working days, and keep partner records and correspondence well organised
Spot at-risk partners early and increase engagement ahead of renewal dates
Renewals & Revenue Growth
Deliver against quarterly renewal and upsell targets
Identify high-potential partners and convert them to recurring, campaign and custom packages
Grow contract value through package upgrades, multi-year agreements and wills-written thresholds
Present and sell our wider products: including LPAs, urgent and complex wills, Legacy Boxes, legacy administration and custom supporter journeys
Hold firm on price and articulate the value of our proposition clearly, balancing what’s right for both our partners and Octopus Legacy
Keep pipeline and partner data in the CRM accurate and up to date
Campaigns & Partner Activation
Support the planning and delivery of our Spring and Autumn campaigns, including signing partners up and preparing charity campaign packs
Run campaign marketing sessions, mid campaign check ins and post campaign reviews with partners
Prioritise partners with the largest reach to maximise will volume, following up where engagement is low
Contribute ideas to improve how we activate partners and support them to promote their free will service
Data & Insight
Use data in every partner review: conversion rates, pledge rates, seasonality and supporter demographics to show impact and find opportunities
Build clear ROI cases that help partners see the value of their legacy programme
Use portfolio data to identify upsell prospects and manage your pipeline
Flag data issues or gaps to the wider team and help find solutions
Community, Events & Team Contribution
Contribute to our Leg Up for Legacies community, helping create content that engages partners and prospects
Support our programme of webinars and in-person events for the charity sector
Share learnings and best practice with the wider partnerships team
Work closely with Marketing, Product, Operations and Finance to deliver a great experience for partners and their supporters
Who Are You?
Experienced in account management, client services or partnerships in a B2B setting
A track record of hitting or exceeding renewal and upsell targets
Confident running review meetings and building relationships with a large number of partners at once
Strong consultative sales skills: you sell by understanding what each partner needs
Commercially minded, comfortable holding firm on value and price while keeping relationships strong
Data savvy: comfortable pulling insight from dashboards and spreadsheets and turning it into a clear story
Highly organised and able to juggle a busy portfolio, campaigns and wider projects
A strong communicator who builds trust quickly
Able to get up to speed fast and make an impact within a 12-month contract
Experience in the charity, legacy giving or fundraising sector is desirable but not essential – curiosity about the sector and motivation for purpose-driven work matter most
Our Mission
Octopus Legacy is the place to plan for death and find support after loss. When people think about planning for death they think about wills, life insurance and funerals. We take these cold processes and turn them into something more human. Share more than money: leave voice notes, music, recipes. Shape a legacy that connects you while you're here. And after you're gone.
Founded by Sam after his mum died suddenly, we’re a group of people who work in death because we’ve been affected by it. We know the difference a good plan makes, and what it’s like w...
