About the Role

Optum is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer with a strong Java development background to design, build, and deploy AI-powered healthcare solutions. This role combines enterprise backend engineering with healthcare interoperability, focusing on scalable microservices, API development, and integration with healthcare data standards.

You will work with Java 17 or 21, Spring Boot, event-driven architectures, and cloud platforms to develop reliable services across clinical domains. The role also involves implementing HL7 FHIR standards and Da Vinci implementation guides to support healthcare data exchange and interoperability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered healthcare applications and services.
• Build scalable microservices using Java 17 or Java 21 and Spring Boot.
• Develop and maintain enterprise APIs supporting healthcare applications and integrations.
• Implement HL7 FHIR standards and Da Vinci implementation guides across clinical domains.
• Build event-driven architectures using Kafka and related technologies.
• Develop data access and persistence components using Spring Data JPA.
• Integrate healthcare systems and services while supporting interoperability requirements.
• Leverage cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure to support scalable application development.
• Collaborate with engineering and other stakeholders to deliver reliable healthcare technology solutions.
• Contribute to application performance, scalability, maintainability, and production readiness.

Required Qualifications

• Strong Java development experience, particularly with Java 17 or Java 21.
• Experience developing enterprise applications and microservices using Spring Boot.
