AI Engineer/ Developer

Responsibilities

Develop and support Python components for AI solutions, including data preparation, document-processing pipelines, RAG components, prompts, scripts, and APIs; assist with testing and document results and code. Collaborate with the AI Technical Lead and business-unit engineers, learn team tools and engineering workflows, follow security and governance requirements, and report progress and blockers.

Requirements

A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or a related engineering discipline is required, along with 0–2 years of experience, including internships or projects. Candidates should have working proficiency in Python and basic ML and LLM knowledge; exposure to Generative AI or RAG is an advantage.

About this role

The Engineer /Developer - AI is an early-career engineer who supports the design, development and testing of AI solutions for AMETEK India Engineering and its Business Units. The role suits a keen learner who adapts quickly to a new working environment, builds a solid understanding of AMETEK products and engineering workflows, and grows into independent delivery of assigned tasks.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Development and Support

Implement well-defined components in Python, such as data preparation, document-processing pipelines, RAG components, prompts, scripts and APIs.
Support testing and evaluation of solutions, and document results, code and setup clearly.

Learning and Adaptation

Quickly learn the team’s tools, platforms, coding standards and engineering domain context.
Technology awareness: explore the latest AI tools and techniques and share useful findings with the team.
Seek and act on feedback from reviews; use version control and team practices consistently.

Collaboration and Compliance

Work with the Technical Lead - AI and BU engineers to understand needs and support user testing and feedback.
Ensure compliance with applicable AMETEK IT policies, security requirements and governance processes, including data-classification, export-control and customer-IP requirements.

Reporting

Update the Technical Lead - AI on task progress at pre-defined intervals, and raise blockers early.
Maintain clear records of test results and issues to support KPI and dashboard reporting.

 
Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML or a related engineering discipline.
0 to 2 years of experience, including internships, academic or personal projects in AI/ML.
Working proficiency in Python; basic understanding of machine learning and LLM concepts.
Exposure to Generative AI or RAG through projects, coursework or self-learning is an advantage.
